Today is Queens day in my country of origin. It's a special day where we celebrate the birthday of the Queen. There are parades, flags everywhere and everyone wears orange, our national color. There are tons of things to do for kids, there's a free market everywhere.
I remember when I was little, we would decorate our bikes and scooters,red white and blue and tons of orange ! it's a big national holiday, where everyone celebrates and is one big family.
Being far from home, as i was in the gym this morning, I remember thinking how my family surely was having a good time and I was hoping for good weather for them without rain and plenty of sunshine.
It was beautiful weather, but unfortunately a derailed man plowed his car into the hundreds of people lining the road, waiting for the royal family to pass by.
Many people were injured and 5 people were killed.
Queens day will never be the same....................because of the senseless action of one person.
My prayers are for the victims and their families.

Repeating myself
I was kinda scrolling down my blog entries and noticed that some things (like the call from placement and the house being painted)

quiet afternoon
Unbelievable but true, I am sitting here on the couch, Max is sound asleep next to me, drooling like crazy, LOL
My regular computer is freezing up constantly, so I took my laptop back from Oscar. Yup the laptop my hubby had bought for mothers day last year (scoring major points I might add !! ) has been confiscated by my oldest. He ususally is in his room, playing music on it, messaging friends, while he has his I-pod on, completely disconnected from the world, must be nice !!
The kids were home early, thanks to half day wednesday, ofcourse Max made all the appropriate noises that he did not want to lay down, he was not tired, etc, etc. I think halfway through one of those sentences he was sound asleep !!
I went to Walmart with Sofia, she has lost another tooth and had some dollars saved up that were burning in her pocket, the Littlest Pets were calling her !! Whenever i go to the store, I try to take one of the kids, that's their special time, they get an Icee and we kind of doodle around................fun.
This morning flew by, F came by with her newly adopted son, who is as cute as can be ! She has a lot on her plate right now, since they just took custody of their grandchild as well, a little over a month ago. Keep this lady in your prayers, she needs some lifting up !
Then another friend came by with her brandnew baby girl, precious as can be !! I had offered my baby swing and pink bouncy for her to use. I will not be needing any of that stuff until well after the summer.........................no placements for now, makes me sad
Last week i was asked to take in a brand spanking new baby girl, born only the day before. Guys i can not tell you how hard it was to say no !!!!!!!!!!!!
Summer vacation is coming up though, I have to be realistic !!
Sofia has caught the reading bug, I LOVE it !!!!!!! i love to read myself and it has always been my wish that my kids would know and have the same love for books !!! She is reading chapter books, The boxcar kids, Junie B Jones and my all time favorite.........The little house one the prairie !!

Just shoot me right now ...........
Nice and relaxed Saturday...........................NOT for me. Oscar had driver's ed, final exam, which he passed BTW, not sure if I should be happy about that ^^
Anyhoo, had to take him, fly back home, carpet guy was coming to stretch the carpet across the street. Barely back, load up the car again to pick him up. Back home, feed kids and somehow I ended up with one more 6 year old................how come......................???? Mom had left him in the care of a neighbors daughter ( I'll be right back is all I heard), well this girl (who's 12) went to play with her friends after a while and the kid ended up here...............mom has been gone for.....................oh about 6 hrs.....................
Why do people think they can just leave their kids here ???? I have enough of them, don't need anymore !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
PS 1 carpet is stretched, tacked, cleaned and looks GREAT !!!!!!!!!!
PS 2 I left a message with the former renter who was going to bring the rent (he
still owes), yesterday..............never showed up..............What is wrong
with people !

Swimming !
The kids all swam after school yesterday, can you believe it !! They have been for the past couple of weeks and are loving it ! The water is still cold, but it has been warming up slowly......still you won't see me in it !!!
After swimming they all go on the bathtub and shower, while I get dinner ready and yesterday they were all bathed and fed by 6 pm, bedtime was at 7 pm for the boys ( they needed an early night), the girls read books until 7.30 pm.
Me..................I was in bed at 9 pm after a hot bath.
The house is going to be painted next week, P couldn't do it this week, but we have the approval of the association on the color (these people.....I swear, they need to egt a hobby ! ) and I bought the paint.
Yesterday I had my carpet steam cleaned, it came out awesome. The house across (rental) needed it too, but they wanted to stretch the carpet first. The former renters moved furniture around a lot and as a result there are "folds" everywhere.
I actually laid out in the sun yesterday for a little, trying to get rid of my raccoon eyes. I always have my sunglasses on, which leaves me with these big white circles, NOT very becoming !!!

Craigslist
Craigslist is where I do my little business. Often I find good deals at Goodwill, usually baby/kid stuff, that with a little scrub has a whole new life !! I sell these on Craigslist for a little profit. Last week I found a bumbo seat for 25 cents and a little Tykes storage/bookcase for $2.
It's fun and like a sport to me, right now I am saving for this gorgeous patio set that I am head over heels with !!!
I actually sold our couch and loveseat (old green, blah) this Saturday for 145, KAching.
The house is going to be painted this week, so after that.............new patio set !
My biggest sale to date was on E bay, I had found this swedish high chair for $15 and sold it on E bay for $185, not too shabby. Here on Craigslist............mmm double Planet earth stroller, bought for $20, sold for $150.

Renters moving out
What a nightmare !!! So when we moved, we decided to rent out our old house. It so happened that the daughter of an old friend of papa, needed a place to stay, she had been transferred to a university here. After a couple of months, a friend moved in and rented another room and last but not least, another person moved in about 8 mos ago.
Having renters is a pain in the a$$, I can tell you that !! Long story short, the girls moved out in Feb and March. The first one moved back home, she was the most responsible and the cleanest........................you know where this is going.......the second girl moved out, now this was the one where her daddy paid her rent and generally was clueless what his little girl was up to..................she had the master bath and bed room, let me tell you that bathroom was so disgusting !!! She moved out her stuff (not by the end of the month but the 6th of April, should have been out already) but left the bed. She was supposed to pick it up in the afternoon, called me to say she wouldn't be there until 10 pm and ended up calling me at 12.20 am that she was there to pick up the bed. Yes people, 12.20 in the morning/night...............................now I know for sure she was smoking crack.......she did not see why we were upset...................OMG
The last one..................well, he was supposed to stay another month, heard through the grapevine he was moving out Friday, asked him about it and he said yes, that was it................................okayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
Now this guy had a long haired cat and never used the vacuum cleaner, the cat had a problem with hairballs.................do I need to say more ???
He actually ahd the balls to say "didn't I do a good job cleaning?"
I went off like a rocket......................a$$wipe...............whatttayamean CLEAN...................
There is a special place for people that pull this kind of stuff.........................................Karma is a bitch people, you shall find out !!!!!!!!!!!!!
The new renter is someone we know, we went lower on the rent, since she offered to clean everything and her brother is going to screen in the porch and front entrance.
This weekend they already have been over cleaning their little hearts out.............good deal. Wednesday we are having the carpet professionally cleaned.
She is going to be renting the house, so no more electric bill for us. I am going to have to clean out the one room and one closet, but she will let me keep my totes in the garage ( my foster totes, easy access, hihi)
Her son is so excited, same age as my girls, and they get along really well.
We'll keep our fingers crossed !!!!

Calls from placement
It seems like they have been slammed lately, I have gotten 4 calls in the past week alone !! All for little ones ( 10 mos, 5 mos, 4 mos) and last Thursday was the topper, a call for a baby girl born the day before.......................
I can not tell you how I struggle with not just saying yes, bring 'm on over !!!
This time I called husband, to at least let him know and let him know my thoughts and that I was really struggling. His first response was "do whatever you want to do"
in a way that I know he is going to completely disconnect and make life miserable.
That sounds horrible, but it is what it is.
We did manage to have a talk about how I really feel that this is what I am meant to do in life and so we need to come to an agreement. My suggestion is/was only short term (30-45 days emergency placement) and not during the summer, more towards the fall, where there won't be boating/beach, etc.
We shall see........................................I called placement back to let her know I would take the baby as an emergency, Thank God she had just received a call that baby would go with sibs to another home. Made it easier on me.

surgery is done
What a way to begin springbreak !!! But Oscar's surgery is done, it was on outpatient basis, so we just got home. He was in a lot of pain when he woke up, so they pumped him full of morphine and Toradol ( boy did that bring back memories of Sebastian !) He had a bilateral orcheopecty and that's all we are going to say about it..............poor baby.
On our way home he wanted Checkers, we came home and he went to bed. He is sound asleep now, so we'll wait and see how things will go today. We have an RX filled for Loratabs.
The little ones are bored, they were all so happy for mommy to come home, they are just not used to me not being there, especially Sebastian. He asked me if Oscar went to the "hospibal" and when I said yes he got really quiet and was on the verge of tears, until Oscar told him he was really okay.
Talking about Sebastian, potty training is basically done, he was my easiest !! Yesterday he cracked me up, he called me to the bathroom, so I asked him if he had to go potty. he says; " no, but I found a secret...............HUH.........( that was the first thought, the second is always...OMG, what now)
There he was in the bathroom, lid of the toilet tank on the floor, him excited as could be, "look mommy, I found a mystery ( that is so Dora and Diego talk !) it's a secret magic plugger" As he says that he flushes. I swear he was so excited about his discovery !!! and how it worked !!!! LOL LOL
