end of summer vacation

We were going to do something fun, go to the beach or to an awesome park, anything really.........................other than having surgery !

Wednesday night, Max decided to clean his ear with a Q tip ( a no-no) Ofcourse he doesn't do this and stand still, no he's walking around, manages to trip over the dog and fall on the Qtip in his ear.......................

He completely ruptured the eardrum, and required surgery to reconstruct the eardrum with a graft, taken from the back of his ear.

We had to be up at peds @ 6 am, of course we brought donuts for the whole crew. Max was given some tylenol with codeine for pain ( the ear was oozing blood and pus, nasty stuff !)

Let me tell you, Max without the meds that he needs and on meds for pain.........he woke up the whole hospital while they were wheeling his bed downstairs to pre op!

I went with him to the OR, he picked out the flavor of the mask and almost passed out from trying "to inflate the balloon" rather than the laugh gas !

Post op was icky, lots of crying, shaking, mommy don't leave me, etc. Complained about his stomach a lot, we couldn't get the prevacid in him fast enough !
he drank some gatorade and slept for about 1 hr, then asked for a hotdog.....!!!

Needless to say, we could go home soon after. We have since had 3 check ups, lots of antibiotics, oral and topical, of course he got a raging infection. His hearing will be tested in about 2 weeks, he still complains he can't hear that well.
