The weekend

The days are just flying by !! Oma arrived Thursday, Friday night an old friend of Papa (from Peru) arrived with his son. The friend had called papa a couple of days before and decided to come down for the weekend, after all it was only an 8 hr drive.........................only................

I had made a huge amount of chicharones, camotes, etc to make sandwiches, since we didn't exactly know what time they would be arriving. Here's the thing when I make chicharones..............my neighbors show up by the garagedoor, kinda like strays standing there sniffing..........then they start chanting "chicharones, chicharones"
It's quite a sight !! Can't blame them really.............those sandwiches are "da bomb"

Nice fresh rolls (french) layer of sliced fried sweet potato, slices of pork and topped off with sliced onion marinated in lime juice..............Heaven people !!!

Now when I cook these huge plates, I really enjoy my rum&coke (diet coke) and since I was cooking a lot (for a long time)...............I had more than one...........and then the friend didn't arrive until 1 am..............see where this goes ?? We all had a blast, Oma, the neighbors, friends that saw eachother again after 30 years ! Lots of laughs, we went to bed at 5 am...........yes, that's right 5 am.................I haven't done one of those since...........mmmmm.......don't remember.

Max had fallen asleep early and so he was wide awake at 6.45................there is no good word in english for how I felt...in dutch it would be BRAK !!! als een balletje.

Everyone slept in til about 10 am (except for me), we had a slow start but ended up going to the beach with all the kids and had a great afternoon.

The whole weekend was basically beach, boat and sun and cooking, lots of cooking. Put peruvians together and they plan what they are going to eat next from the moment they open their eyes!!!!!

Huge step...............

Today Oma is coming, so after the kids left for school....out came the cleaning supplies ! She will sleep in the girls room. No more suite across the street with peace and quiet, since we are now renting out the whole house.

I don't think she ever liked being across the street anyway.........

Holy cow, the girls room..........it looked ok-ish, until you start moving stuff and uncover mountains of pieces of paper, Barbie stuff, littlest pets, etc, etc
Finally got that room done, all the bedding is in the dryer as we speak.

Next the boys room, much easier, put some legos away, some cars, made the beds, looked around.............................and my eye fell on the big dresser, that I have been suing as a dressing table forever. It has the pillow on it, the wipes, all the feeding supplies, gauze, cremes, etc.

I have not used this in, mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, over a month. Sebastian is potty trained, so no more diapers (wahoooooo Basje !!)

Maybe, just maybe, I should get rid of this............not using it after all, he's not a baby anymore and there's no baby in the house ( for now LOL)

Man, I really stood there, having this internal conversation............I'm crazy I know.

As i was writing this the electricity went out, so I am finishing up now

Oma has arrived, safe and sound. Her flight went pretty well. The kids were super excited to see her !!

Another surgery

Oscar had another episode about a week ago, therefore today we had another consult with his urologist...............it seems the surgery was not as successfull as we had hoped and they will need to repeat it. Not good news. Oscar is understandably completely bummed...............the dr did say he would redo the operation free of charge, we will only have to pay the anasthesiologist (spelling ???)

We will wait until summer break, which is only a couple of weeks away.

Mother's day was celebrated on the beach, it has been hot here and the Gulf is already nice and warm ! The kids always have a great time on the beach, they play in the waves for hours ! Once we came home, it was showers for everyone, papa ordered pizza in the meantime. The kids all had made me lovely self made presents from school and together with papa bought me a beautiful potted rose bush. Oscar bought me a nice cd. All in all a very nice day.

The petting zoo !!!

I found a petting zoo pretty nearby !!! Wahooooooo !! For all my dutch people..............who I can see thinking "what's the big deal, we have those everywhere, literally every block or so it seems"

Over here we don't..we used to have one at the Farmer's market, a mom slipped and fell and sued the place...............the insurance for these places is sky high and so the few closed..............such a shame. Shame on that woman, after bringing her child forever to this place, suing because you slipped and fell. RIDICULOUS !!!!

We had fun, the kids found eggs, the girls rode ponies and papa had the bright idea of borrowing an incubator to hatch some chicken and turkey eggs...........he figured that would be an awesome project for me....I mean the kids........

We went to the beach Saturday, great time, the water is warming up fast ! Sebastian had a nice nap behind mommy's chair in the shade !!

new patio set finally !

I fell in love with this set from the moment I saw it..................but for the people that know me..............it was expensive............not from a garage sale, Craigslist or Goodwill....................I thought about it, saved money and every time I was in Walmart and had time, I would wander over to the garden center and sit down in my set.....................making extra sure it was comfortable, as comfortable as I remembered...................it was and it is !

I would like to thank the Academy, err, I mean, thanks mom for partly financing, hi hi, dank je moeders ! And thanks to my husband for also partly financing, for Mothersday ( I don't think I told him this part yet LOL) He'll be happy, he suffers buying presents (never knows what to buy and hates stores, actually breaks out in hives )
