Yesterday was a long day. I was subpoenaed for a TPR trial for a little girl that has OT/PT at the same time as Nico. This child has been with the same family for 3 years, ALL her life ! Bio mom has a long, long history of drug abuse. She did finally get clean, had 2 more babies, which made for a total of 7 ! Did I mention, she is only 24 ! and ofcourse has had a rotten childhood herself...............
She has her last 2 babies, one just turned a year old, the other one born not even a month ago.............life is hard for her..........no support or very little, no money. She does NOT trust anybody, so at mediation, even after her attorney told her she would not win this trial, even after the family offered visits and ongoing contact........she said no :(
Yesterday was the trial, she showed up late, testimony was heard from different professionals involved with this little girl, who is pretty involved medically.
After lunch break, all of a sudden, mom said she was ready to sign surrenders, IF the original offer still stood.............family said yes immediately. They know that this will be so much better in the long run. These 3 girls will be able to see eachother and this bio mom will have a chance to maintain contact.
Very emotional, happy tears.....this long road is finally over, no more sleepless nights,but right there as well sadness......because no matter what, it is sad when young women are so lost, because of their own upbringing, drugs, etc, and they keep having babies, one after the other going into the system, prenatally exposed, with all the issues that come with it.
Prayers of thanks, that L will now be in her forever family and prayers that her birth mom will continue to be drug free, keep her focus on the 2 little baby girls she has now and that God heals her heart and spirit....
